Inclusivity

I was hearing to Mr.Keeravani’s acceptance speech , he said he grew up listening to Carpenters. Why carpenters? Does the oppression from the colonial days have forced us to quote what they listened to or is it our own inferiority complex thinking we are lesser  so we need to quote something they know. Won’t there be a common ground between east and west especially on the academy stage ? Why didn’t he say about he comes from land where A R Rahman is from or Rasool PooKutty ? He even “sang” his speech to Top of the world. Is there a gap in inclusiveness after all? Why should we quote them when we have our own to feel connected or to make our mark. With his speech I know more Indians started listening to carpenters. But really was it a necessity, but what if he really loved Carpenters guess we will never know.
